Twinsie Tuesday: Vampy

Tuesday, September 29, 2015

Today's Twinsie Tuesday theme is vampy. When I think of something vampy, I think of really deep dark colors so I went with a super dark purple creme with a glittery black design.

Vampy Purple with Glittery Black Double Chevron Half Moon Nail Art

I used OPI William Tell Me About OPI on all the nails. I used striping tape to create the double chevron design and filled it in with Nabi Iris Jumbo Glitter. While the polish was still wet, I peeled the striping tape off. Finished with Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat.

I'm not 100% happy with how these nails turned out. I wished the black glittery design I did was more noticeable. What do you think?

Sky Blue Creme with Blinged Accent

Monday, September 28, 2015

Happy Monday Blues! Today's manicure is a simple blue creme with a blinged out accent nail. I love creating accent nails and its been a while since I really applied a ton of nail decorations so I thought it would be a good idea to do one. Let's see the manicure then.

Sky Blue Creme with Blinged Accent Nail Art

First, I used Barielle Swizzle Stix on all the nails except the ring nail. Then for the ring nail, I used Different Dimension I've Been An Angel All Year. For the bling, I applied a pearl and rhinestone stud on the ring nail and accented it with some multi-sized pearls from Born Pretty Store around it. Use coupon code YCL91 for 10% off. Finished with Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat.

Barielle Swizzle Stix is one of my favorite blues so my bottle of it is running low and the polish itself is getting pretty thick. I'm going to have to thin it out with nail polish thinner or purchase a new bottle. Really happy with how these nails turned out though. What do you think?

SKIN&LAB Dr. Color Effect Yellow Essence Spray Review

Thursday, September 24, 2015

Here's my review on the SKIN&LAB Dr. Color Effect Yellow Essence Spray. I've been using this essence spay for a little over a  month now so I thought I would share my thoughts on it. This is my first time using an essence in a spray bottle format so let's see whether I liked that or not. It's also been quite a while since I've done a skincare product review so I hope this is helpful to anyone out there who's looking for a new essence product.

Packaging
The SKIN&LAB Dr. Color Effect Yellow Essence Spray is packaged in a nicely designed cardboard box. I like the all white design with touches of yellow which almost resembles a honeycomb to me along with the simple black/grey lettering. It goes well with the theme of it being called a yellow essence. It makes it very sleek. Inside, the essence is packaged in a yellow spray bottle. The bottle has a protective cap to protect the spray nozzle of the bottle. A very simple but effect packaging especially for a dual layer essence like this.

Texture and Scent
The SKIN&LAB Dr. Color Effect Yellow Essence Spray has two layers to it so its essential to shake the bottle before use. Once sprayed onto the skin, it has a very light moisturizing feeling to it. As you can see, the essence itself is clear. After patting the essence in, my skin feels lightly moisturized and prepped for the rest of my skincare routine. The scent on this essence is a light citrus lemon scent which is something I enjoy.

SKIN&LAB Dr. Color Effect Yellow Essence Spray Review

How to Use
Mix the two layers well by shaking the bottle before use. Close your eyes and spray it over the cleansed face with a circular movement at a distance of 20 cm from the face. Smooth in gently. Can also be used before make-up to give your skin better glow and longer-lasting effect. I usually spray 3-4 times to get a nice even application on the face. I use it as my first step of my skincare routine to prep the skin for the rest of my skincare products.

My Review
The SKIN&LAB Yellow Essence Spray is a great first step to my skincare routine. After cleansing, my face needs a bit of moisture back so spraying the essence afterwards preps my skin for the rest of my skincare routine. The packaging makes it pretty convenient to travel with and is very easy to use. Since you can carry it around with you, it makes it a very easy product to use and spray on if your skin is feeling a bit dry when your outside. I never thought to use an essence product in a spray bottle packaging but it actually makes it very convenient and I feel like I'm getting an even layer of product on my face. It absorbs pretty fast into the skin too.

Final Thoughts
Overall, I recommend the SKIN&LAB Yellow Essence Spray if your looking for a product that puts a bit of moisturize back into the skin after cleansing and is a first step to prepping your skin for the rest of your skincare routine. It's not too heavy so its perfect for the warmer weather when you want a bit of moisturize but not too much to feel heavy. The product smells really good so its perfect to spray on any time during the day to freshen up the skin. I particularly recommend the SKIN&LAB Dr. Color Effect Yellow Essence Spray for day time use since it does help to give your skin a bit of a healthy glow when sprayed on. I was able to get mine on sale so the price wasn't too bad. I will say that its full price at $32 is on the more expensive side so I recommend either waiting for a sale to purchase it or to use a coupon code on your order.

*SKIN&LAB Dr. Color Effect Yellow Essence Spray was purchased with my own money. My opinion is 100% honest. Post does contain affiliate links.*

Twinsie Tuesday: Inspired by one of your hobbies/interests other than polish

Tuesday, September 22, 2015

Today's Twinsie Tuesday theme is to create a manicure inspired by one of my hobbies or interests other than nail polish. I like to bake and cook when I have free time so I decided to create some chocolate chip cookies on my nails. Cookies are my favorite things to bake so I thought they would be cute on my nails. Let's see how it turned out.

Chocolate Chip Cookies Nail Art

I used Barielle Gotta Have Fate on all the nails. I used Barielle Cashmere Or Loose Me to create the cookie itself and American Apparel Raccoon for the chocolate chips on top with a dotting tool. Finished with Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat.

I thought these turned out cute. For some strange reason, I had a lot of double with my camera when I was taking pictures. It wasn't focusing on my nails well but I managed to get somewhat good shots of it. What do you think?

Turquoise and Navy Distressed Shatter

Monday, September 21, 2015

Happy Monday Blues! I was going through my collection the other day and decided to use some of my OPI shatter polishes in today's manicure. Most of my shatter polishes have sadly dried up a bit in the bottle but I was still able to use two of the colors in here. I might have to eventually toss them out or purchase some nail polish thinner to restore them though.

Turquoise and Navy Distressed Shatter Nail Art

First, I used Hard Candy Sky on all the nails. Then I used OPI Turquoise Shatter and OPI Navy Shatter on the nails to create a distressed look after making sure to wipe off the brush really good. Finished with Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat.

It's been a while since I've used my shatter polishes so its nice to take them out and use them in this manicure. I really like the effect it created too. Its very edgy feeling. What do you think?

Light Purple and Metallic Green Foil Nail Art

Thursday, September 17, 2015

For today's manicure, I tried my hand on using nail foil for the first time. I've seen others use them before but for some reason I haven't attempted one until now. Let's see the results.

Light Purple and Metallic Green Foil Nail Art

I used Sephora by OPI It's Hippo to Be Square on all the nails. While the second coat of polish was still a bit tacky and not fully dried, I quickly dabbed and applied a green foil to create the effect on the nails. Didn't finish with any top coat so the foil will still be shiny on the nails.

Light Purple and Metallic Green Foil Nail Art

For my first nail foil manicure, I thought these turned out pretty good. I'm very interested in creating more nail foil manicures since the super shiny effect they have on the nails is cool. I might even mix more than one nail foil together too. What do you think?

Twinsie Tuesday: Inspired by Your BFF

Tuesday, September 15, 2015

Today's Twinsie Tuesday theme is to create a manicure inspired by your BFF. So, my BFF is one of my sisters. I have two older sisters but the one I'm super close with and consider my BFF has to be my sister that's one year older than me. She likes the color blue and anime so I tried to incorporate that into the manicure. Let's see what I created.

Blue Crelly with Anime Stamping Accent Nail Art

First, I used Brigits Digits Blue Bubba on all the nails except for the ring nail. For the ring nail, I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. I stamped with Born Pretty Stamping Polish in Black with stamping plate BP-32 from Born Pretty Store on just the ring nail. Use coupon code YCL91 for 10% off your order. Finished with Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat.

I thought these came out well. I don't have stamping plates other than the one I used in here that had a anime looking character so that's something I need to change. What do you think?

Blue Shimmer and Gold Unicorn Stud

Monday, September 14, 2015

Happy Monday Blues! I have a simple manicure to show that mainly features a new nail art stud I received from Born Pretty Store. I'm a fan of bow studs but I wanted to try other nail art studs out there. This unicorn one caught my eye so let's see it used in today's manicure.

Blue Shimmer and Gold Unicorn Stud Nail Art

I used Essie Smooth Sailing on all the nails. For the ring nail, I used Girly Bits Eight Crazy Nights and applied a gold unicorn stud from Born Pretty Store. Use coupon code YCL91 for 10% off your order. Finished with Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat.

I'm really pleased with this simple manicure. The gold unicorn stud is cute and I'm happy to have it in my collection of nail decorations. It was nice to try other nail stud designs that's out there so you might be seeing more of that in the future. What do you think?

Jord Wood Watch Review and Nail Art

Thursday, September 10, 2015

Here's my review and nail art for a wooden watch from Jord I received a while back. The model that caught my eye and that I'm sharing today is the Ely Maple Style Watch. I've seen other bloggers talk and show these watches so I've always been curious to get one myself so I'm thankful that I was contacted by Jord to review one of their watches. Let's see my review.

Jord Wood Watch Ely Series in Maple Review and Nail Art

Packaging
My package came shipped in a small cardboard box. Inside, the wooden box the watch came in was bubbled wrapped outside as well as inside. The wooden box the watch comes in is so nice. Its simple but its something so different from what I've seen any watch packaged in. Its just a plain light wood box, with the Jord brand on the front with the Jord brand image on the top of the box. The top slides out to reveal the watch inside. I'm probably going to be storing the watch or other jewelry pieces I have in here.

Jord Wood Watch Ely Series in Maple Review and Nail Art

Inside, the watch is wrapped around a watch pillow. Underneath that, you get a few cards and two extra extension links for the watch. The extra watch extension links came in handy for me because the watch was actually too small to fit on my wrist. I attached the one link extension on the watch to help improve the fit on my wrist. I did find it difficult to attach it on though since I didn't really have any jewelry tools but I found some thin sewing needles I had around the house to help with the attachment.

The Watch
The Jord Ely Maple Watch itself was beautifully presented in the box. It was wrapped around a little watch pillow with the Jord brand on the right hand corner. The watch was actually much more lighter in weight than what I expected which is great. It feels very comfortable on my wrist and the light neutral colors will make it easy to pair outfits with it. The face of the watch is not too big on my wrist but its large enough for me to tell what time it is easily. I'm planning to make this my everyday watch from now on since the watch I'm currently wearing is getting very worn down. I also like the closure to the watch, its a clip clasp that you push together to open and clip back on which makes it easy to take off or put on when your in a rush.

Nail Art
Here's my nail art to go with the Jord Ely Maple Watch. Since the watch is in such a light neutral color, I feel like it can go with a lot of nail colors. I choose to create a manicure a bit on the brighter side with a simple design.

Coral Flakie with Stripe Tips Nail Art

To achieve this nail art look, I first applied Julep Sasha and topped it with Finger Paints Flashy on all the nails. Then I used striping tape to get the two stripes and painted OPI Designer... De Better! on top, making sure to peel the striping tape off when the polish was still wet. Lastly, I finished with a coat of Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat.

My Review
The Jord Ely Maple Watch is gorgeous and since its in a lighter wood, I think it would pair well with a lot of different outfits from causal to something more formal. It feels really nicely made and is such a unique watch out there. I like that they include extra extension links for you in case the watch doesn't fit your wrist properly. They did ask for my wrist size prior to shipping out the watch but for some reason, the watch was still a bit too small. I might have probably measured wrong. I also like that I've never seen any watches quite like how Jord watches look. The all wood look they have is something you don't see a lot of other people wearing. It makes your watch a bit unique from the standard watches out there.

Final Thoughts
Overall, I was very happy with the Jord Ely Maple Watch. It is on the expensive side retailing for $129 but I think its still very affordable especially if you want a good made quality watch that's a bit different from the ones out there. There are a few color choices and watch styles you can choose from on their website. What I like the most is the uniqueness of the wooden made watches since I've never seen any other brands have it. The Jord watches would be a great present to gift to someone who's looking for a new watch and something out of the ordinary. There are quite a few Jord watches that I'm eyeing like the ones with the exposed opening to the inside of the watches. What do you think of the wooden watches from Jord?

Twinsie Tuesday: Ocean Inspired

Tuesday, September 8, 2015

Today's Twinsie Tuesday theme is ocean inspired. I thought this would be a great time for me to try out the other set of nail stencils I ordered from Vinyl It Up a while back. I took these scale nail stencils to create the nail art. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out too.

Mermaid Scales Inspired Nail Art

I used China Glaze Liquid Crystal on all the nails. I took scale nail stencils from Vinyl It Up and applied them after making sure the base was dry. I sponged on OPI Mermaid's Tears and before the polish dried, I peeled the nail vinyl off. Finished with Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat.

Mermaid Scales Inspired Nail Art

I accidentally applied the nail stencil on the opposite direction on my ring nail but it kind of works as an accent nail here. Next time, I'll probably try sponging on the glitter instead since the creme polish did cover quite a bit of the glitter polish here. What do you think?

Blue and Metallic Green Stamping

Monday, September 7, 2015

Happy Monday Blues and Labour Day! I'm back today with another stamping manicure. This is another blue base and green stamping combination. I realize that I tend to pair a lot of my blue manicures with green. I guess its because the two colors compliment each other well.

Blue and Metallic Green Stamping Nail Art

I used China Glaze At Vase Value on all the nails. I stamped with Born Pretty Stamping Polish in Green with stamping plate BP-13 from Born Pretty Store. Use coupon code YCL91 for 10% off. Finished with Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat.

Blue and Metallic Green Stamping Nail Art

That metallic green stamping polish from Born Pretty Store stamped so well. The only issue I had with it was that the gold shimmer in it makes it hard to clean up afterwards. I'm happy to have another good stamping polish in my collection though. What do you think?

August 2015 Product Empties

Friday, September 4, 2015

Here are my product empties for August. August has been a pretty tough month for me since I left my job around the middle of the month and I'm still currently in the process in looking for a new job. With all that going on, I didn't finish a lot of products this month but I still did manage to finish up a few even through all of that was happening.

August 2015 Product Empties

1. Migabee Botanical Moisture Mist
This was an okay body mist. It gave me body a light layer of moisture but the scent on it wasn't something I really liked. It had a herb/medical smell to me and I prefer more fruity scents.

2. Shara Shara Green Tea Seed Magic Balm
I actually didn't finish this product but I have to throw it out since its expired already. I only used it once or twice and I didn't like it at all. Its basically just a solid balm with a green tea scent to it. The green tea scent didn't even smell that good to me. Overall, just not very impressed with it so I much prefer normal Vaseline to it.

3. Barbinie Shea Butter Hand Cream in White Lily
This was my everyday hand cream when I was working as a cashier at my previous work place. It has a nice light floral scent and it kept my hands pretty moisturized when I applied it. Its a thick cream but it does absorb pretty well into my skin.

That's it for my product empties for August. Its probably the least amount of products I've finished so far in one month but I'm still happy to have finished something. Let me know what you've finished in August down below.

Pink and Purple Gradient with Scattered Triangles

Wednesday, September 2, 2015

I've been really into creating gradients lately. I just like the effect of having one color blend into another color in the nail art. The possibilities are kind of endless with it too which is awesome.

Pink and Purple Gradient with Scattered Triangles Nail Art

I used Golden Rose Paris Magic Color in 313 on all the nails. I sponged on the gradient with the same base color and OPI Suzi & The 7 Dusseldorfs using a makeup sponge. Then I stamped with Born Pretty Stamping Polish in White with stamping plate BP-14 from Born Pretty Store. Use coupon code YCL91 for 10% off your order. Finished with Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat.

I did wish I took the time to make the stamping a bit better but I still really like how these turned out. What do you think?
